Henry Brumbaugh ("Conrad":http://brumbaughwise.stikipad.com/notes/show/Conrad+Brumbaugh, Jacob, Johannes Henrich) was bron Nov. 4 1805, and his mother Mary, died at his birth. He was nursed by Margaret (Brumbaugh) Fouse together with her own child Adam Fouse. It is said that the close friendship between these two continued throughout life. They made it a special point to call upon each other at frequent intervals, although residing in different states. Oct. 8, 1829, he married Catherine Stiffer of Hollidaysburg, Blair Co, PA. They remained in Blair Co, until 1831, when they moved to Stark Co, OH. April 2, 1832, they moved t o Randolph Twp, Portage Co, OH. Here the family built a house in the woods and cleared a farm on which the parents lived until 80 years olds. They reared a family of 14 children, 9 boys and 5 girls, nearly all of whom settled in the vicinity of the old homestead. The parents were members of the German Baptist Brethren Church, in which he was a minister and an elder for some years and of which the children were active members. One main section is the original home and the other was added on. Unable to tell which one is the original.
